What is RMP and its Uses

Ready-mix Plaster is a mixture of fine graded sand and cement blended with polymer additives in appropriate proportions, so it is ready to be used. It can be directly applied by mixing it with the required quantity of water. The application of Ready-mix Plaster is mostly in brick and plastering works. RMC works as a shield and protects the structure from rain, moisture, snow, sun, etc. to prevent it from withering off due to the exposure to external elements.

Ready-mix Plaster is mainly used for various interior and exterior structures. It can be easily applied into patterns or textured surfaces in addition to the plain ones. It can be used as an intermediate coat or the final coat on the walls and can serve as a conventional plaster to hide scratches or base coats on the walls.

Ready-mix Plaster vs Cement-based Plaster

Ready-mix Plaster is generally preferred over the conventional sand plaster owing to several unique properties. In the normal cement plaster, sand is obtained from the riverbeds and may also have slits and other impurities. Additionally, often they may not be graded which can lead to cracks and other defects. On the other hand, Ready-mix Plaster is made up of cement, clean and fine graded sand, fly ash, and polymer additives. Here, graded sand is used which ensures quality and compactness in plastering.

Ready-mix Plaster generates less wastage as it is in the ready-mix form and easy to store and use for work. Housekeeping labor charges are also very less compared to conventional cement-based plaster. Rebound wastage of RMP is also very minimal as it consists of polymer-based additives which makes the adhesion super easy and application fast. RMP requires 3-4 days of curing as opposed to 7 days in case of cement-based plaster as the polymeric content induces high water retention properties.

Here are some of the benefits of using Ready-mix Plaster:

  • Quick to use
  • Minimal wastage
  • Clean & graded materials
  • Factory mixed
  • Minimum shrinkage cracks
  • Available in packets
  • Easy to handle & store
